Here is a recipe for tea infused with pods of cardamom with its variations.
Serves: 1
Milk | 1/2 glass (125ml) |
---|---|
Water | 1/6 glass (42ml) |
Tea Leaves | 1 teaspoon (adjust accordingly) |
Sugar | 1 teaspoon or to taste |
Green Cardamom | 1 pod (or 1/2 pod for milder flavor) |
Instructions:
- Mix the water and milk in a small saucepan and bring it to a boil over medium heat.
- Once it starts boiling, add the crushed pods of cardamom and let it simmer on low heat for a few minutes to infuse the cardamom flavor.
- Add the tea leaves and continue to cook on low heat for a couple of minutes around 2 to 3 minutes, depending on how strong you like your tea.
- Add in the sugar and wait until it dissolves completely,
- Take it off the heat, place a fine mesh strainer on a cup, and strain the tea.

Note:
- Feel free to adjust the sugar according to your taste.
- If you like your tea strong, let it steep a bit longer before straining.
- For 2 servings, double the recipe.
Variations
- Masala Chai: For a spiced tea blend, mix cardamom with other spices like ginger, cinnamon, and cloves.
- Iced Tea: On warm days, make a pleasant iced version of cardamom tea by brewing it and chilling it.
- Green Tea: To make green tea more aromatic and lighter, add cardamom.
