Cardamom Tea Recipe

Cardamom tea is a very pleasant and aromatic drink that is made by infusing Cardamom pods with water or milk. It is a very popular drink in many cultures including Asia and the Middle East due to its health benefits and unique flavor. Here is a recipe for tea infused with pods of cardamom with its variations.

 

Serves: 1

Milk1/2 glass (125ml)
Water1/6 glass (42ml)
Tea Leaves1 teaspoon (adjust accordingly)
Sugar1 teaspoon or to taste
Green Cardamom 1 pod (or 1/2 pod for milder flavor)

 

Instructions:

  • Mix the water and milk in a small saucepan and bring it to a boil over medium heat.
  • Once it starts boiling, add the crushed pods of cardamom and let it simmer on low heat for a few minutes to infuse the cardamom flavor.
  • Add the tea leaves and continue to cook on low heat for a couple of minutes around 2 to 3 minutes, depending on how strong you like your tea.
  • Add in the sugar and wait until it dissolves completely,
  • Take it off the heat, place a fine mesh strainer on a cup, and strain the tea.

Your delightful tea full of aroma and taste is ready to enjoy!

Note:

  • Feel free to adjust the sugar according to your taste.
  • If you like your tea strong, let it steep a bit longer before straining.
  • For 2 servings, double the recipe.

Variations

  • Masala Chai: For a spiced tea blend, mix cardamom with other spices like ginger, cinnamon, and cloves.
  • Iced Tea: On warm days, make a pleasant iced version of cardamom tea by brewing it and chilling it.
  • Green Tea: To make green tea more aromatic and lighter, add cardamom.
